How Animals Adapt to Survive
Earth is home to millions of animal species, and each
one has its own survival abilities. Over time, each species has changed in order
to survive in its ecological niche. Polar bears keep warm in the frigid Arctic
with lots of fur and fat. Saber-toothed deer duke it out with other males to
fight for the attention of the females. Adaptations don’t happen overnight,
though. The adaptive process takes several generations. This series explores
different animals’ adaptations and how these adaptations relate to the
ecological niche in which the animals live. Bright, colorful photographs aid
children in making textual connections and fact boxes provide interesting
insight into these animals’ lives.
